As a vet myself here's another thanks to AV! I don't usually get into politics but I will say I'm sick of these players that make millions to play a game disrespecting the countless people who gave their all for them to be able to do what they do. You can spin it how you want but the bottom line is it's disrespectful.
    I'll end my rant there.

It's a flag and a song so I guess, I just don't understand how people get so offended. I also have plenty of respect for our soldiers. They're the real heroes and I have/had many family members who were vets.

Sorry to go off topic but I also feel the same way about the confederate flag and monuments.....It's just a flag and statues....lol

By no means I, meant disrespect to any member of our armed forces or anybodies personal beliefs....I just really don't get offended easily....

As an outsider from the UK looking in on what is going on in the NFL today, I just can't help but think, WTF has any of this got to do with football ? I've not seen any of the Pittsburgh Pirates do anything, ( that I've seen anyway ) and for me, when someone in football makes it political, then it's taking away why people like sports in the first place, that being to get away from real life shit if only for the duration of the match. I don't want real life shite interfering with something that is meant to make us forget things and enjoy ourselves for a bit.

I have no issue about people demonstrating, for whatever right or belief they believe, but not on the football field, not in sports. The reason is, where does it stop ? Cap did what he did for a reason and others followed, but what next ? Mexican players protest at what Trump has said about them?, Asian players Protest at the flag for whats being said about them? Gay players protest at whats being said about them ? Ball boys protest at not enough tv time... etc etc... you get my gist. Each demographic has a right to complain about anything they want, but not on the football field please and away from the game.

This whole thing started with the death of Michael brown in Ferguson Missouri. The truth is, the media built a false narrative of an innocent black man being gunned down in the street by a racist white cop. They took a false eyewitness statement of brown with his hands up running from the cop screaming don’t shoot (hands up don’t shoot)
This spawned what is now known as black lives matter (BLM).
Kapernicks girlfriend is a radical member and has brainwashed him to have his protest by sitting down during the anthem. Siting the systemic police brutality and oppression towards black people in this country.
The liberal media seized on the opportunity to push his story trying to further divide the nation along racial lines.
It’s funny how liberals will talk incessantly about the Kap’s 1st amendment right to protest (which no one denies he had) yet turn around and champion the terroist group called Antifa for rioting anywhere a conservative has been invited to speak.
As the media’s shit storm escalated, so too did other players who felt they could join in the “protest”.
When fans started getting upset and felt offended by HOW they were protesting, the media doubled down, made Kap a martyr and carried over the protest into this season, when Kap didn’t get signed.

Now Trumps comments on Saturday did not help the matter. He essentially poured gas on the fire. I don’t necessarily disagree with his overall point, but I also would have not used the SOB term or demand their termination. Even though companies can do what they wish has far as their employees are concerned. The double standard is very high in this country right now. Christian bakers are forced by the courts to bake a cake for a gay wedding, curt shilling was fired by ESPN for posting a transgender meme on FB basically disagreeing with the bathroom laws that were being discussed. Jewele Hill called Trump a white supremisist with no repercussions. Etc...
So the NFL, owners and players are trying to band together against Trump. But they are alienating their fans big time.

This does come down to politics, and the left in this country has done nothing but try to ruin everything in its path. Music, movies, TV, is mainly about pushing he liberal agenda, trying to silence any opposing views (i.e. conservative). Now they’ve come for football and American sports in general. And it’s only gotten worse since they can’t get over the fact that Trump won.
As for me, even before the game, before the Steelers decided what they were gonna do or not do, I was pretty much done. I couldn’t get excited for the game. I watched the entire game but honestly couldn’t have cared less about the outcome. I felt nothing for the Steelers yesterday. First time ever! I did not feel joy or disappointment.
All day I felt like I had been dumped. I felt like my heart was broken. And I still feel like that. I feel it for this country. And I don’t know what it will take, if there is anything that can make me feel joy for the NFL again.
This will be my last post this season, and maybe forever. I’ve enjoyed everyone here and all of the conversations we’ve had! I wish you all the best in whatever you do!

So this whole issue is surrounding the white policeman shooting a black man ?

In all walks of life you will get the "bad apples" that ruin the name of something ie the few tarnish the reputation of the police.

Cap took a knee in protest.

How insulting is that to the hundreds and thousands of police that actually do their job perfectly fine ?
Capernick, representing the NFL at his place of work, taking the moral high ground as an NFLplayer ? The same NFL players who are convicted murderers, rapists, wife beaters and child beaters ??? Like I said their are bad apples in all walks of life, but we don't protest about NFL players bad behaviour, so why should they about others?
Cap starting BLM creates division. Shouldn't his foundation drop the black and just be "Lives Matter" irrespective of colour ?

Also I didn't like the fact the Steelers hid in the tunnel before the game. To me that doesn't show unity, it shows they couldn't decide so their is division in theirs ranks. Division that in part didn't help their performance. The team moments before a big game, were not talking football they were worried about what they were doing for the national anthem. What a pile of shit. Politics from a country I don't live in is effecting a sport I have followed and a franchise I have loved for 40 years ?!?!? It's wrong.
