Not that i put much weight on a pro bowl selection, i must admit that I thought for certain that Shazier was a lock to make it.

I also thought Gilbert got snubbed and DeCastro's play this year is not worthy, but hey....it's the pro bowl and not the All Pro team, so it is what it is.

Shazier is absolutely playing at an All-Pro level, better than Mosley IMO, but the missed games earlier in the season is probably what hurt him. Not to mention Mosley is a recognizable name on a top defense. He hasn't even been the best ILB on his own team this year. Orr has been a monster.

DeCastro probably shouldn't have made it this year. He's been solid but a penalty machine. Foster and Gilbert are more deserving, IMO. Especially Gilbert.

Shazier and Mitchell got snubbed, imo.

Mosley is an absolute joke...hes gotten worked this year

Isnt Gilbert playing with a pretty bad elbow injury they expect to need offseason surgery on? Hes been great. Decastro is my boy though

Completely forgot about Mitchell. He should've made it over Reggie Nelson who's also been playing like garbage this year. But again, recognizable name.

Yeah I forgot about Mitchell, too. I have to agree with T on the recognizable name loop.

For a fanbase that cried for 4 years that there was no leadership or intensity on the defense no one gets less respect than mike mitchell.

I feel like he should be a fan favorite, yet he is not at all

I have a love/hate attitude towards Mitchell! I admit it...I love him when he does something right and hate him when he does something wrong. It's not fair and I admit that...I also can't explain it...there's just something about him.
But I've really enjoyed the way he's played this year and have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt more often.

I think a lot of it has to do with the misconception that he's an unnecessary roughnness flag-magnet. He's absolutely not, but there's definitely a big misconception out there.

I love Mitchell. He's one of those rare FS that's a centerfielder but also an enforcer. A tone-setter. And you can tell he loves the game and the other guys love him.

Edit: another thing probably has to do with his subpar first year here. He was our big ticket free agent acquisition and overall he didn't play to the level expected, though some fans act like he was garbage. He was not. His last two years though he's been fantastic.

    Through which he played injured.

A little OT, but this is why such NFL accolades mean next to nothing to me.

The Boz makes six field goals (five from 40+), takes four points off the board with a tackle, and Ryan Succop gets special teams player of the week for a 53 yard FG.

    BS

I love what Gilbert has done this year. I'd have chosen him over DeCastro, who's been a bit of a DeZastro at inoportune times this season. In other news, the pro bowl is an unwatchable farce anyways.

The Pro Bowl needs to be axed permanently.

Absolutely. I am not sure where the "DeCastro has played poorly" narrative is coming from. Has he played as well as last season, no, but he is still a top tier guy in the league.

It reminds me of Pouncey. After his rookie season he was inflated so high that "merely" being a top 3-5 center in the league meant he was "overrated". The same people calling him overrated were the same ones who inflated him that first season. Go figure. Not being able to admit they were wrong, the narrative morphed into him being a "China Doll" because his knees could not withstand 320 pound linemen diving at them.

DeCastro hasn't played poorly by any stretch, the penalties have just been frustrating. I think he's 2nd in the league in "drive-stalling" penalties. Take that for what it's worth lol
